Botany and Cultivation of Cannabis
Laboratory course focuses on the anatomical and biological aspects of the cannabis plant. Students will work with the cannabis plant or a substitute plant. Content includes seed to harvest cannabis growth cycle, plant health, agricultural cultivation techniques, state regulations of industry standards, and structural and physiological aspects of cannabis including terpenes, cannabinoids, and the pharmacokinetics of cannabis.
Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. For others, the LHE represents additional work for teaching the class, such as grading papers for Composition classes or teaching a class with a laboratory section (computers, languages, and the sciences); in those cases, the LHE represents a figure higher than the credit hour. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. For the 2020-21 academic year rates are $1155/LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1237/LHE for faculty with doctorates. Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall & spring semesters where 3+ credit hours are taught in each semester.

Research Technologist 3 | JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Harrisburg Central PA Research and Teaching Laboratory for Biofuels is seeking a candidate for the position of Research Technologist 3 (Laboratory Manager). The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Develop, design and conduct research experiments; research responsibilities are focused on industrial hemp ( Cannabis sativa ) tissue culture and CRISPR gene editing and evaluation of the results
Responsible for safe operation of biofuels research laboratory
Responsible for all greenhouse activities, including daily care of plants, pesticide applications as needed and collection of data from transgenic plants
Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations, and outcomes
Responsible for maintaining supplies of laboratory chemicals and equipment and performing routine laboratory and greenhouse audits
May supervise lower-level staff, wage employees and/or students
